Amaranth Oil & Hair Loss in Women
One of the leading causes of hair loss in women is not getting enough iron and lysine. In fact, one study found that 30% of women experiencing early hair loss had the potential to go bald because they weren’t getting enough of these two nutrients.Â
You probably know how to get more iron… if not, click here!Â
But lysine? Lysine is an important amino acid that helps the proteins in your hair grow thick and strong.
Too little lysine = too little hair. Your hair becomes weak, thin and then you are at risk of it falling out.
The bad news is, your body doesn’t make lysine but luckily, you can get lysine from Amaranth oil.Â
Amaranth oil is pressed from one of the foods/ seeds that contain lysine and can help your body hold onto thick, healthy hair. Nutrients in this oil are said to promote thicker hair growth, protect hair color and moisturize hair follicles. It could help you keep the color of your hair for years to come by fighting back against the oxidative stress that hydrogen peroxide build-up causes in your hair follicles. Antioxidants in this oil can also support healthy hormonal balance. Hormones such as estrogen, testosterone and vitamin D can affect hair growth and thinning.
Usage: We recommend taking up to 33 drops per day. This oil can be taken on its own, added into a cold beverage, or topped on prepared foods. This oil should not be applied to heat.
Consider adding a few drops of amaranth oil to a dollop of your natural shampoo (not directly to the bottle), massage this oil into wet hair, wear a shower cap and let the oil soak in for a few minutes. Then, shampoo it out to moisturize and strengthen your locks. Take note, though, that you’ll probably have to shampoo a second time (without oil) so that no residue is left behind. Learn more below:Â
